I’ve been spending some time in the Scottish hills, becoming at one with nature. It’s hard, being a city girl, to adapt to lanes full of sheep blocking the path, spiders and a lack of wifi…
One of the highlights of my trip has been visiting local graveyards. Creepy, I know, but I love the peacefulness of the ivy-clad ruined stone collections with elegant Victorian writing swirling across; faint now, but still readable. The grass squelches below and kestrels hover above as I wander with my friend through these tiny churchyards and, sometimes, graveyards set on a hillside miles from anywhere.
There was a tradition here in the Scottish borders to name the place where the person died. In the local graveyard, several people are buried who died in this very cottage where I’m staying. There’s an air of calm here, and a constant chill. Is death the end?
No.
Turning the Death card in a Tarot reading definitely isn’t finality. It simply means that something is ending in order for something better to begin. It’s a fresh start, a new challenge and should be viewed as excitement and a welcome change.
The Death card is nothing to fear. It offers an opportunity to reassess the main issues in your life and clarify where the path ahead of you turns in a new direction. If you receive this symbol of change, embrace it. Take joy in the knowledge that something new is beginning. You’ll be pleased you did!

This weekend at a beautiful spiritual retreat in Kent was one of my best trips ever!! Three days of workshops and spiritual development sessions, set in an idyllic location and run under the expert guidance of TV’s amazing Nicky Alan.

You may have seen Nicky providing comfort and hope to hundreds of people through her show, Angels. As one of the world’s most acclaimed psychic mediums, with a stream of celebrity endorsements and books to her name, she was an awesome teacher. Kind, gentle, guiding – and so full of infectious laughter and energy that the whole weekend was like a dynamic, surreal dream.
If you haven’t witnessed Nicky’s remarkable talent, check out her website for details of her next appearances. She’s an accomplished Tarot reader but has channelled her excellence to working in the angel realm. Our angel work was fitting for the environment: tiny cottages set in spiritually alert rose gardens and tiny chapels for healing and prayer.
I’m so happy to have made ten lovely new friends, including Tarot readers, Angel card readers. mediums, a psychic writer and a horse whisperer. The readings we shared were accurate, perceptive and honest, bringing smiles, tears (not me) and, of course, an abundance of love.
I won’t go into detail here of the weekend’s astonishing experiences, but safe to say my credit card is trembling with anticipation, ready to book the next workshop… I haven’t learnt, performed or laughed so much for as long as I can remember. Sending thanks and much love to Nicky – and all my other new friends and soul sisters.
So… back to email and ready for my next Tarot reading! Will it be for you?

With a full moon looming on Friday 13th, what better card to pop up than The Moon itself?!
The Moon is the card of dreams and the unconscious. It represents intuition and inner light as we travel on our way to a higher consciousness – although this might be a dim, vague light – the moon doesn’t always shine brightly. It’s the mysterious face peering down on us, throwing shadows and creating glints of light that shimmer and then vanish.
Many writers say that the Moon inspires and enchants – and reams of song lyrics agree. But the world of night and shadow is an unknown one, and can be scary. In a reading, the Moon can reflect anxiety, fear and uncertainty, an indication that we’re losing our way in the glimmering glow of moonlight. If you draw this card, it can be a sign that you need to find your way back to a known path. Your inner fears may be seeping into your wakefulness, and repressed feelings and upsetting memories may be coming alive and causing you distress during the day. This shows a need to acknowledge those feelings and deal with them – in other words, put them to bed!
The Moon can also indicate negative traits, such as secret motives and hidden truths. It’s an illusion, deceptive and it can be a reminder that you must be aware of what’s going on and look around you clearly. The Moon is a card of the night, so stop day-dreaming. If you’re idealising a situation or letting your imagination run away with you, wake up and take a good hard look around. And remember, things always look clearer in the light of day.
It’s been said that we live our lives in a feeling of being comfortable with what we know, and we turn our backs on the ‘mysterious universe’ outside of our comfort zone – only occasionally peeking out, sometimes through our imagination or, for some people, through heightened experiences – like drugs or alcohol. Moon madness was a commonly diagnosed ‘ailment’ in centuries gone by. If you doubt your own sanity, like I often do (!!) you might be wise to stay in on Friday night!!

I’ve done three readings this morning and the Wheel of Fortune has shown up twice! Good news for the querants. (That’s the word for people receiving the reading.) Positive change is coming…
The premise surrounding the Tarot is that we set our paths in life, but we’re subject to the larger cycles that surround us. Our destinies may appear pre-determined, and things that happen by chance, or fate, seem to be accidents – but they’re really only a small part in the great scheme of things.
The appearance of the Wheel of Fortune shows the wider perspective.
As with any wheel, this one indicates a change in direction, rapid movement and energy. Things are on the up! Major changes are coming – and they’re coming soon! They may be such dramatic changes that you’re forced to take a new path, maybe one that you’d never even considered before. If you draw this card, you may be suspended in the centre of the wheel, experiencing the whoosh of movement going on around you but maintaining your stability amidst the turmoil of change – or you may be going with flow, sweeping upwards in the cycles of life, love and fortune.
As we all know, there are always going to be ups and downs. If life sometimes seems challenging, you can be sure there will be smoother times ahead. And that’s great, because we always appreciate good times more if we’ve known some tough ones. We become better equipped to see things in perspective and take that wider view which this card offers.
We can’t change the Wheel of Fortune; it’s set by outside forces. To choose this card means destiny is working in your favour and all you need do is ride with it and adapt accordingly. As the wheel goes up, take advantage of the opportunities opening up, looking optimistically at whatever it is the universe has in store for you.
The Wheel is a circle – it’s the epitome of completeness, no ending and no beginning. There’s an old saying that I strongly believe in: “What goes around comes around.” When the chips are down, for you or people around you, remember that as the wheel goes up, you want the good energy to flow with you. Stay kind, positive and neutral, and always look at the wider picture.
