Card of the day – Six of Pentacles

six of pentaclesI’ve taken a card at random to represent a snapshot of the day – and it’s a six for the sixth!!

The Six of Pentacles reflects material security and charitable giving.  It indicates that you may be making a money-related choice today – perhaps you’ll choose to pop a coin in the charity box at the supermarket checkout later, or drop off some goods at the local charity shop.

As we all know, well balanced finances keep life happy and healthy.  You may be thinking about loaning money to a friend or relative in need.  I have already heard today: “Mum, can I have…?!”

Or perhaps you’ll find yourself choosing to do something specifically to make money today. I know a few people who’ve been talking about sticking unwanted items on eBay… well this is a great day for that!

Today’s Tarot card comes from the fabulous ‘Housewives tarot’ – a pack designed with nostalgic 1950’s retro iconography.  The pictures are very Mad Men.  This cheeky little chap might not have finances on his mind, but what a lovely choice he’s faced with!!  Look out for more of the Housewives Tarot in the coming weeks…

Do you know the Queen of Swords?

Tarot by email | Tarot readings | queen of swordsWhen a court card appears in a reading it often represents a person you know who is, or has, impacted on your life.  Or it could even be you…

The Queen of Swords is a sharp, intelligent woman – independent and feisty.  She’s got a quick tongue and is incredibly bright.   She’s got a fantastic, easy sense of humour and has no trouble laughing at herself.  You’d enjoy a night out with her, that’s for sure.

On the other hand, you wouldn’t want to get on this queen’s wrong side!  She’s opinionated and can be cold-hearted.  This lady judges situations in an emotionless manner.  She’s quick to size up the situation and you’d have to get up pretty early to fool her.  She rules with her head rather than her heart and demands to know all the facts in her search to understand other people.  This is one woman who doesn’t beat around the bush – she calls a spade a spade and says exactly what’s on her mind.

Some of the queen’s strength comes from her own hard knocks in life.  She’s seen it all, done it all, and she’ll lay her cards on the table, expecting you to do the same.

If the Queen of Swords shows up in your reading she can indicate a need for you to think independently and logically, like her.  Look around you, not necessarily with the queen’s absolutely dispassionate approach, but with a clearer view of all the facts.

So, does she remind you of anyone?

Nine of Cups: such a happy Tarot card!

Tarot by email | Tarot readings | nine of cupsFor my first Tarot blog, I’ve chosen to focus on one of the happiest cards in the pack.  The Nine of Cups is better known as ‘The Wish Card’ – if it’s turned up, you’ll get your wish!  This card represents satisfaction on all levels and is commonly taken as a sign of someone ‘getting their heart’s desire’ – their dreams are certainly within their grasp – and often right around the corner.

The imagery on the Rider-Waite Tarot card is very positive: a predominance of yellow, the uplifting colour of sunshine and happiness. The man sits comfortably on his stool, cheery-faced and arms folded, his nine cups proudly displayed behind him on a luxurious green cloth.  He is the epitome of contentment and, if you receive the Nine of Cups in a Tarot reading, it’s likely you’ll be experiencing happiness and contentment in all areas of your life.

This lovely Tarot card can refer to a romantic relationship, friendship or something more sensual, as well as good luck in your work and general well-being.  It demonstrates self-confidence in emotional experiences, fulfilment and the healing power of love.

Like all cards from the Suit of Cups, the card represents the element of water.  The whole suit is associated with love, relationships and feelings, naturally corresponding to our modern day suit of Hearts.  The people represented by ‘Cups’ tend to be emotional and creative.  They’re also usually water signs of the zodiac: Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio.

The appearance of the Nine of Cups indicates a bright future.  If you’re lucky enough to receive it, enjoy life!  It’s yours for the taking!!
